HARVEST TEC MONITOR IS STUCK ON "CHECKING FOR UPDATES"

One of the most common issues we hear regarding some of our older systems that use a Harvest Tec touch screen display, is that the screen will freeze or it won't communicate properly with its corresponding processor. When this happens its usually due to a miscommunication in the way that are system powers up. This often happens when growers disconnect their baler and utilize their tractor for other work. The Harvest Tec system works great, they park the baler until next cutting and when they reconnect to go bale- they can't get the system to connect. The reason for this is most commonly due to disconnecting the tractor and baler harnesses at the hitch. In order for our systems to power up correctly, we need the processor on the baler to receive power first from the tractor battery. When the last connection plugged in was at the hitch, it disrupts that ideal connection process. The good news is, there is an easy fix! We call it a "reboot". All you need to do is turn your tractor key all the way off so there should be no more power going to any Harvest Tec components. Next step out of the tractor and head back to the processor on the baler (600 series = DCP, 500 series = PIP, 400 series = BMP) and find the main power harness coming from the hitch of the baler. Remove this harness for at least 60 seconds. Once the minute is up, plug the harness back in and make sure its secure. Then return to the cab of the tractor and turn the tractor all the way over so the system has full power and let the Harvest Tec screen power up. More often than not, that will fix the problem.

If it does not, other troubleshooting possibilities:

  • Check main connections (bent or broken pins, use di-electric grease, check for power, etc.)
    • Battery
    • Key Power
    • Hitch where tractor and baler harness meet
    • Tractor Harness at the bottom of Touch Screen Display
    • Power Harness going into Baler Processor
  • Check Harnesses- if anything was sliced and repaired back together, it could be causing an intermediate connection and require additional maintenance or a new replacement harness.

*AFTER CHECKING CONNECTIONS, MAKE SURE POWER HARNESS GOING INTO BALER PROCESSOR IS THE LAST CONNECTION MADE TO AGAIN ENSURE PROPER START UP

  • If you have checked all these things and are still not having any luck. There may be an issue with your Touch Screen Display. Please contact your dealer or Harvest Tec directly to set up a repair.
